Creature Comforts

Began my new internship today at Medical Faculty Associates, where I am starting an art therapy program for patients undergoing cancer treatment. I am very excited about the opportunities and possibilities! Last night, I even had trouble sleeping due to my excitement (and nerves) about the first day. Regrettably, the one thing I didn't bring with me was my visual journal. As an art therapist in training, this journal serves as an outlet for my thoughts and feelings about sessions with patients, as well as being a place for my own personal expression. This morning, my bag weighed an absolute ton. Deciding it would be alright to record my day once I got home,  I dropped the weight of the extra book. As I was stimulated with information and planning throughout the day, I wished I had brought my journal with me.

Lesson Learned: Sometimes it's worth it to go the extra mile for the little things that bring you comfort (especially on your first day).

I will definitely be bringing my journal with me tomorrow!
